Your skin is precious and as we get older, maintaining it is a must. This can be done with moisturisers, face scrubs, creams etc. The pollution of the city also affects your skin, so it’s beneficial to exfoliate at least twice a week. This will help rejuvenate your skin. This helps in removing all the dead skin cells leaving your face looking smooth and young. Some of the really good face scrubs that claim to be organic can also be pretty expensive. You can make equally good scrubs to nourish your skin using just a few common kitchen ingredients. These ingredients were used by our grandmothers and their mothers and people have taken a liking to them once again.

Here are 5 face scrubs that can be made using your basic kitchen ingredients!

If you suffer from dry skin then you should try this face scrub. The coconut keeps your skin moisturised while the sugar helps in exfoliation of the dead skin cells.

To make this scrub all you will need is 1-2 tbsp. of coconut oil and 3 tbsp. of sugar.

You will want to mix both these ingredients in a bowl and then gently massage the mixture all over your face. Avoid getting it in your eyes and massage carefully around the eyes. You can leave this on for about 2 min or up to 5 min before washing it off with warm water.

3. Tomato and Sugar Scrub

If you need to revive dull skin then this face scrub is perfect as it removes all the dead cells giving you a fresh face. Besides rejuvenating your skin, it also prevents acne.

For this, you will need 1 fresh tomato and 2 tbsp. of sugar.

After making the tomato purée, you can then go on and mix the sugar in it. After doing so, apply the paste on your skin. If making the purée is too much of a hassle for you then you can also cut the tomato in two halves, and dip them in sugar and proceed to massage your face with it in a circular motion. You can do this for around 3-4 min before washing it off with cold water.

4. Coffee Powder and Oil Scrub

Here’s another mask you can try out for glowing skin. Nowadays plenty of cosmetic brands add coffee as their main ingredient, as the caffeine in it helps improve the blood flow to the face. This, in turn, gives you a radiant and bright look. This mask is not only perfect for reversing the damage caused by the sun but also brightens skin, giving you a younger look.

All you will need is 1 tbsp. of coffee powder, half tbsp. of sugar and 1 tbsp. of olive oil.

Mix all these ingredients together and gently massage your face with it. Leave it for about 10 min and then wash it off with cold water. You can use this once a week. This will help in reducing cellulite and also give you a natural glow.

5. Yogurt, Honey and Oatmeal Scrub

Fed-up with those pesky acne breakouts? Well, you could try giving this scrub a shot. The yoghurt lightens acne scars, tightens skin pores, and improves skin texture. The oatmeal prevents skin damaged and reducing oils while the honey cleans the pores killing off the acne-causing bacteria.

To make this you will need 1 Tbsp. of ground oatmeal with 1 tsp. of honey and yoghurt. Mix well and use your fingers to massage the scrub all over your face and neck for about 5 min before rinsing it off.
